jenny crystal

My grandmother, Jennie Crystal, drawn from memory, by me.
She suffered much and was "made of steel".
Immigrated from Josvainiai Lithuania with her mother Sima Fridman Rabinowitz about 1891, hurt  badly in an accident, had to quit school in the 4th grade, always wanted to go back.
Sent her kids to college.
Her mom died when she was just a teen, in childbirth, and she helped raise her siblings and then 6 children with a body that was terribly damaged.
She endured povery, pain, racism and abuse and was a true survivor.

The better life we enjoy was built on her foundation and sacrifices.
