teaching the ninepatches to dance

  I made this for my brother Steve in 1998, using fabrics from USA,Japan, Africa, starting with simple ninepatches and it went where it wanted.

japanese blues
fabrics I collected for a long time
tried to save them
but
the quilt took all she wanted
indigo blue, turquoise and green and deeps
and silver
and flute music
zen sewing up to midnight
adding always more silver moon and rain fabrics
working in the almost dark of winter storms
hard to see the colors
but she made herself
teaching the ninepatches to dance
she called me to love and forgiveness and hope
sleep well brother mine
