I used to weave
Before I was a quiltmaker, I was a weaver. I was inspired by and taught by Monique Timberlake, a gorgeous redhead friend at the Land. I rebuilt an antique floor loom ( no directions, just a pile of wood pieces). Later I had a Leclerc folding floor loom, sold it about 6 yr ago. I made some horse blankets for my mom, some rugs, a few scarves, some wall hangings. I still have my Mendocino coast blanket. the piece I made as an artist's tithe for Caspar Foursquare Gospel Lighthouse Church has vanished, all that remains is this blurred b/w print. I humbly submit all to you.

I took the weaving to mendocino for a visit, hope it is happy. most of the yarns have not faded. I hope to rephotograph it on the Land where it was born, once the rain stops.
ReplyDeleteI too was taught weaving by Monique. I am sorry to say that she passed away last week. She was a beautiful gentle soul. I will never forget her.
